The 1.56 update for ETS2, released on September 18, 2025, brings a mix of graphical enhancements, UI redesigns, new content (vehicles, trailers, DLC compatibility), and quality-of-life improvements. Visual & Rendering Enhancements One of the headline features is the introduction of a Height Blend effect. This helps smoother transitions between terrain types (grass, dirt, rock, etc.) by blending textures based on elevation, reducing stark boundaries or mismatched decals. The devs converted over 1,300 materials to integrate this change, and in their testing the performance impact was minimal (slight increase in memory use) .
