Euro truck simulator 2 1.56 Update
The 1.56 update for ETS2, released on September 18, 2025, brings a mix of graphical enhancements, UI redesigns, new content (vehicles, trailers, DLC compatibility), and quality-of-life improvements.
Visual & Rendering Enhancements
One of the headline features is the introduction of a Height Blend effect. This helps smoother transitions between terrain types (grass, dirt, rock, etc.) by blending textures based on elevation, reducing stark boundaries or mismatched decals. The devs converted over 1,300 materials to integrate this change, and in their testing the performance impact was minimal (slight increase in memory use) .
New / Updated Content & DLCs
HS-Schoch Tuning Pack DLC
Expanded customization: accessories can now have chrome, paintable, and matte paintable finishes.
New grilles and light bars: roof bars now come in LED / non-LED versions, front light bars get LED, non-LED, and strobe variants.
Bottom grilles get slot-based options plus LED.
Two new paint jobs.
Also, parts are extended to trucks that weren’t part of the DLC’s original launch, and auxiliary lights get improvements (some available as part of the base game update) .
Special Transport DLC / CZ LOKO Additions
In the base game, two locomotives are added as new cargoes: MUV 75 (~14 tonnes) and EffiShunter 300 (~36 tonnes).
For the Special Transport DLC, a new heavy cargo: EffiShunter 1000 (80 tonnes loco + 10 tonnes trailer = ~90 tonnes). With trailer, it’s ~16 m long, 3.1 m wide, and 5.3 m tall.
Delivery routes: Berlin → Szczecin, Kassel → Hamburg, Bremen → Travemünde. Each trip is escorted by two vehicles.
Schmitz Cargobull Trailer Pack DLC Update
Adds a 32 m HCT (High Capacity Transport) trailer configuration: two trailers linked via a dolly (making Schmitz the second brand in ETS2 to support 32 m HCT).
Also includes a new steering axle chassis for the S.KO City trailers (better maneuverability).
New lighting variants across S.CS, S.KO, S.BO, and S.KI trailers, with options showing the Schmitz logo.
UI / UX & Accessibility Changes
Camera Zoom Mode
The interior zoom (“look around / closer view inside cab / mirrors”) can now be toggled or held down (instead of always needing to hold a key). This option is found under “Options → Gameplay & Options → Accessibility.”
DLC Browser Redesign
The DLC browser UI is overhauled: improved categorization (Featured, Bundles, Map, Cargo, Trailer, Accessories, Paint Jobs).
Layout now shows 4 items per row instead of 3, making browsing easier.
Career / Startup Flow Refresh
New card-style layout for career selection, showing the active one at the top, and easier switching by double-clicking cards.
A new Truck Preference screen is introduced during career setup: you can rotate trucks in 3D, switch brands/models, or let the game pick randomly.
The Edit Career screen is cleaned up (less clutter, focusing on essentials).
You can change avatar or view driver details without leaving to the main menu.
Management / Company UI Improvements
In the Desktop view’s Company tab (Driver, Trailer, Truck, Garage Manager screens), a refreshed “company subscreen” now shows company name/logo, a 7-day profit graph, highlights of best-performing assets, and an economy summary pop-up.
On relocation: when a driver and their truck can both be moved to the same garage, a checkbox lets you relocate both together.
The Garage Manager and Driver Manager are now unlocked from the start (you don’t have to wait until after buying a truck).
The Driver Manager screen now has a clearer layout: an XP bar for NPC drivers, simpler job/skills overview, and a bulk “preferred training policy” for new hires.
Community Feedback & Caveats
While many players praise the aesthetic improvements and customization expansion, some on forums report mod compatibility issues or bugs—common when a major patch changes foundational systems.
Overall, 1.56 is a substantial update that boosts visual fidelity, expands customization and hauling options, and reorganizes many parts of the interface and career flow to feel more modern and user-friendly. If you like, I can also send you a full change log (every tweak) ok
